Abstract

The 6th International Doctoral Workshop of the Uwe Johnson-Gesellschaft, organized in cooperation with the Uwe Johnson-Forschungsstelle and the Uwe Johnson-Werkausgabe of the BBAW, took place in Rostock in May 2024. Participants from Germany, Italy, Austria, and Norway discussed various aspects of Uwe Johnson’s work and legacy. In eight presentations, literary, biographical, and editorial perspectives were explored—ranging from Johnson’s role in the Revue Internationale, to his influence on the Italian Germanist Enrico Filippini, and to interpretations of Speculations About Jakob in the context of crime literature. The present report provides a brief summary of all contributions and offers insight into the academic exchange, which allowed space for methodological reflection and interdisciplinary dialogue as well.
