Johnson-Journal
Vol. 1 (2025)The Johnson-Journal continues the work of the Johnson-Jahrbuch. After more than 30 years and 30 yearbooks, the medium and publication frequency are changing. Unlike the Jahrbuch, which is published once a year, articles in the Journal are published throughout the year. The thematic focus remains unchanged: scholarly discourse on Uwe Johnson and his broad literary and historical context, accompanied by news from the current Johnson cosmos. The first journal articles illustrate this ambition: in his essay, Philipp Steiner examines Johnson’s editing work for Suhrkamp Verlag on George Steiner; Greg Bond reviews the second part of the Leipzig theater project Jahrestage; Damian Schottowski reports on the 6th International Doctoral Workshop of the Uwe Johnson-Gesellschaft, and Irmgard Müller looks back on the creation of the Jahrestage commentary more than 25 years ago.
