Abstract

The increasing complexity of battery and chemical logistics, especially for lithium-ion batteries (LIB), requires efficient risk assessments that take into account heterogeneous regulations such as ADR 2025 and DGUV requirements, which are time-consuming and error-prone when done manually. This article presents the development of a pre-prototype, EU-compliant AI system based on Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), which combines generative AI with hybrid semantic search and agent-based reasoning to generate context-specific, source-referenced recommendations for stakeholders such as logistics companies and fire departments. The approach addresses challenges such as conflicting standards through knowledge graphs, feedback loops and governance mechanisms to ensure traceability and compliance, and demonstrates transferability to practical applications.
